Want

I was thinking … what would be a good start in changing the direction in which we are currently going at full speed (and without a helmet)? How about …

I’m afraid we are not advocating for a pohod, or crusade, or anything like that

Then what is it your cause strives for?

……

We are wanting for the end of all wanting

Our daily lives are driven by the desire to continuously improve and achieve beautiful things. Be that on a personal matter, by the things we achieve or in a non personal way by the things we purchase, we always have the tendency not to be satisfied with what we have. While that is not such a bad thing from a pure development perspective, it has morphed over the years in a constant feeling of dissatisfaction because the search has shifted more and more to external factors. There is less desire to search within what completes you, but more to try to achieve everything through the things we buy. Is Wanting, a good scale to achieve our much wanted piece of mind or Need would fulfill that gap and everything else should be seen as a bonus?

Growing up we try to find our way in life and understand the world around us. Having more and more garbage presented to us in form of fame, wealth, promiscuity as the perfect way living, can and is very dissorienting not only for a young mind but also for many adults. That polished lie drives the idea that the only way to achieve greatness is to change your way, to match the attitude required in getting those things. To want more and more from world around you, in getting to a point where you won’t want anything more. Is that nevertheless a realistic and achievable way of guiding your life, starting from the forementioned premise that the search of external is neverending? There is always more fame to be achieved, more wealth to be aquired or more ways in testing your limits with multitude of partners. Is it a sustainable and meaningful way of living your life, being that also only for a few years? Isn’t internal peace which should thrive above all?

Getting it seems an impossible task as we have so many things around us that look too enticing and can almost convince us the Want and Need become synonyms. We get the impression that we need to much, through the external factors present, that we almost forget that what we need is already there. Over many years we have worked in building a society in which the needs are assured. There is much work still to be done as many parts of the world are not yet there but that should be our motivator. Instead on focusing on getting “the next thing” how about getting current thing, right? Bring ourselves to having our needs fulfilled and work from there. Wanting more is something we have build in but the question is, what exactly are we craving for? What brings us closer to peace of mind and a life well spent? Do we want the next gadget available on the market or the next car or the next piece of clothing or we want to better ourselves and in the process, as people, advance our steps to something more.

How can we want more and at the same time be happy with what we have? We can start with appreciating the present and everything which was placed at our disposal. Be grateful for every moment and for the things you have in your life and thank Her each day for the opportunities in your life. Stop wanting things and everything that does not enrich your life. Build a better you, invest in your passion and work for a future where we all will be happy to live in. Everything else will come, in it’s own time, into play …

Until next time, with all my love,
