Automation - Saving time for…losing time

I was thinking....will we grow as people when automation will replace that boring and repetative tasks in our life or we will use the time doing nothing.

Let me explain what I mean by nothing. I add in that category daily activities like Social Media, Youtube, Internet Browsing etc."Hey , wait a minute, what is this guy saying??? I am wasting my life doing these things. That is bullshit. Almost half the population is doing it. "My question is: does that also mean automatically that it should be your point of view? If your answer is yes, if social dictates that I will behave in a certain way and that is my duty, then you don't need to proceed with reading the rest of the article. You defined what matters to you.For the ones which are questioning the Status Quo and don't blindly go with the flow before an analysis is done, welcome!

Let's take a two step approach in discussing this topic:

Saving time through automation - Losing the gained time by doing nothing

1. Saving time through automation

Automation is something which we see overall. Starting from the robot used in the kitchen to save you time in preparing a nice cake to the robot used for cleaning your house while you are away or automatic light system which you schedule while you are away or maybe when you get out of bed. We are starting to see an automated option in all aspects of our life. This takes the stress and time of our shoulders with the daily chores and leaves us with extra time to use for whatever we want. Now my question is, what are you doing with that saved time and resources? Are you using it to build a new hobby or learn something which enriches your life [which you should] or you are getting to point 2.

2. Losing the gained time by doing nothing

You have saved that precious time, with the help of robots and automatic systems in your house. excellent, now you can do whatever you want. And...you place yourself on the couch, unlock your phone and start scrolling. So many options to chose from. You have your Facebook Feed, Instagram, Twitter. Then have a look on Youtube what comes new and after the video , again on Facebook, Instagram etc. because of course you have new alarms in the app. After a few hours you realize that it is again late in the night, you are tired out of your mind and don't have the time to shower without getting late to bed. Tomorrow you will definitely do better and stuff in another way. Or will you?

Our gained time with the help of automation and robotics, seems somehow to disappear in the Sea of new products and Software which the companies release for our "leisure". You have so many options at hand that you don't know where to start or how you can finish. This is the point : YOU CAN'T. Our brain is not programmed to assimilate so much information . It needs time to take it in, process it and do something productive with it. If nevertheless the next step is to get new information, it will never reach the point where it does also something with it.

The goal of the companies feeding you all information is not for you to assimilate something but to consume more and more. Otherwise you are not a viable product for them. Now ask yourself the question: is this something which you are OK with?

Your gained time, to be used by others for gains? I know that the answer is NO. No one does, then why do we still do it?

Until next time, TFG
