TUXEDO InfinityBook Pro 14 - Gen 10 - a Look

Now this I will not call a review … it is more of a look and opinion of the 14 inch laptop from Tuxedo Computers. As previously mentioned, I am planing my shift from Windows to Linux OS and as I was in need of a new laptop, what better way to start it as investing into a Linux machine.

There were a few contenders(System76, Framework, Thinkpad) taken into consideration, but in the end the winner was Tuxedo. I especially liked the ease of access and to replace RAM and NVME option and the fact that it comes with Linux preinstalled.

Configuration which I opted for was (pardon the German :) ):

  • TUXEDO InfinityBook Pro 14 - Gen10 - AMD

  • Omnia Display | 3k (2880 x 1800) | 16:10 | max. 120Hz | 500nits

  • Infinity gray

  • 32 GB (2x 16GB) DDR5 5600MHz Crucial

  • AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 (12 Kerne | 24 Threads | max. 5.1 GHz | 36 MB Cache)

  • 1 TB Samsung 990 EVO Plus (NVMe PCIe 4.0 x4 / 5.0 x2)

  • ohne M.2 SSD 2 (Nachträglich aufrüstbar)

  • ENGLISH US ISO (EN QWERTY international) beleuchtet mit TUX Super-Taste

  • AMD RZ616 Wi-Fi (802.11ax | 2.4 & 5 GHz & 6 Ghz | Bluetooth 5.2)

  • TUXEDO OS (Empfehlung)

  • ohne Windows

  • ohne virtuelles Windows

  • 2 Jahre Garantie (Inkl. Teile, Arbeitszeit & Versand)

  • EU Stromkabel | F C6

  • TUXEDO Logo

Price: 1549 Euro

There are a few reason why I opted to this configuration starting from the CPU. I have opted for the HX370 from AMD in order to future proof my machine. Changing my devices every 2-3 years is not something I strive for therefore chosen a powerfull CPU which should serve me and the installed OS very well.

On the Display side of things, I did not have any other option available but after using it for a few weeks, I must say it is excellent to look at. I believe only an OLED display would have probably outclassed it, but then also the price would have been another.

For the RAM I have opted to a dual kit 2x 16GB, totally 32 GB. It is more than enough for the tasks which I am currently doing. My idea was to upgrade to a later stage, to 128 GB but then the entire Memory industry went nuts due to the demand of AI and the prices spiked. My hope is that this situation will change in 2026 but at this point in time, I just don’t know. Having some docker containers to play is doable with this much memory but for any testing of AI locally, it is simply impossible. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that the companies will not forget the consumer in the mad race in the business sector in ramping up new Datacenters for AI in the future.

The 1 Tb NVME is enough for what I need. Just to be sure I have added a second 512 Gb NVME for the extra space and in dual boot.

Main OS is still Tuxedo OS, as I want to test it thoroughly and as a “backup“ I have installed Cachy OS, my Linux Distribution of choice. Both OS versions are solid, and at this point I simply cannot decide which one will serve as main OS in the future.

Build quality of the Laptop is very good. The materials feel good to the touch and there aren’t many fingerprints to be seen on the silver of the lid. Keyboards have a comfortable feel while typing, with good travel distance. They are not on Thinkpad level but one cannot have everything.

The laptop weights aprox 1.4 Kg and it is not on the light side for a 14 inch machine, but it feels “build like a tank“, feature which I was looking for for my new laptop. I am enjoying using it every day and that I believe is all that matters.

Now that I presented all the positives there is one negative which I need to mention.

What truly is bad about this laptop is the camera. When I mean bad, I mean horrible. Such low quality I’ve never seen in a long time. If you are planning to have frequent Zoom/Teams calls with this laptop, forget about it and buy something else. (an alternative could be Thinkpad X Series). I am not using it very often, therefore does not bother me that much.

All in all, I was pleasantly surprised by Tuxedo. From the build quality, to the excellent good HW options (you can go upto 128 GB RAM) to the surprises added in the package by Tuxedo, everything emanates premium and attention to details.

Recommend buying it, if you are looking for a sturdy 14 inch machine build for Linux OS (or for Windows, if you still prefer that invasive OS)

Until next time, TFG
