Gratitude
I was thinking … out of all things we experience in the course of our lives on earth, which ones should we be most grateful for? It was hard to make a choice as the good of the bad both have worked in tandem to build the person I am today. Then why choose one over the other?
Since beginning our lives on this planet, we are faced with challenges of equally importance in building us over the years. Having our first step, learning how to talk or understanding the intricacies of this world, none are easy tasks to be done. It is interesting to notice nevertheless how our approach to failure changes as we get older. We start with the pure excitement of failure until getting things done when we are young. Everything is an obstacle that could be conquered and nothing seem to stand in our way except the limitations imposed by others and ourselves. Starting with this view of the world, we slowly decline into no longer accepting and seeing everything as opportunities offered but as a hard an tedious process, with no purpose. “Why is this happening to me?“ “What have I done to deserve that?“ are limiting questions that we place upon ourselves, because we want only good things to happen to us. What if, things are happening for a reason? Maybe you can’t understand it now and it looks pointless at the moment but what if you don’t have all the data to the problem. What if, you stop trying and start accepting that things out of your control, are there with a motive, that even intangible for you, are part of something much bigger? And yes, You are that important for Him!
Therefore, I am grateful for everything which I had, everything which I have and everything which I will have. For the good and the not so good, for all the moments which brought me here and what I will be given to experience, I thank Him. He created and protect us, He guides us every day and only through His mercy and patience we can and will shine bright. We stand before Him everyday with all our flaws and he still loves us and wants only the best for us. What more proof of unconditional love are we still looking for? For that reason:
I am grateful for parents which raised me and looked after after me with their limited possibilties. We didn’t have much but they did their best to offer me a home, to guide me and to challenge me always strive to do better. My loving mother, which always took care that we don’t underestimate us and was always there for us when we were in dear need for a hug and emotional support. My loving father, which provided structure and strong principles. My dear brother, who makes me happy everytime I hear his voice. My relatives, each in their uniquness beautiful. From the family dinners where we all gathered with joy and happiness to the excellent discussions about raising strong and independent children and visits to the farm and playing with chickens.
I am grateful for my family who are there for me every day and give me the energy and pure happiness. My loving wife, which I was blessed being with for more than 20 years. She is truly my better half and cannot be more thankful that I have her on my side. My beautiful daughters, that enrich my days with their smile and endless energy reserves.
I am grateful for my friends that even though far away, are always a pleasure to talk to. They are not many, but celebrating with some of them more than 20 years of laughs together is something that can only be described as magical.
I am grateful for all the not so good moments, but as the saying goes “Orice sut in fund e un pas inainte“ “Every Kick in the Butt is a Step Forward“. We should not linger on the past but take things as they are, change the things in our control, and accept the things which are not. You never know if a failure in school for example can bring you to being an excellent entrepreneur or if ending a bad relationship will bring you one step closer to the love of your life. Like building a beautiful puzzle you cannot see how the pieces fit on the board when you have them scrambled on the table. With enough time and patience, they will fit together and we can be so proud by the final product.
The unthankful heart discovers no mercies; but the thankful heart will find, in every hour, some heavenly blessings.
Until next time, with all my love,
