cheap Price - outdated hardware

I was thinking … how a company can reach being the most profitable in the world? By launching products like the MacBook Neo , make beautiful presentation movies and market it as a budget friendly machine.

In the last days, I have watched on Youtube a lot of review videos (first look) from known Youtubers which described the machine mostly in a very positive note. I understand the fact that if you are depending on that company in further providing devices to review, there are tradeoffs to be made. You must remain neutral with just a few hints of the minus properties of the product, but finishing strong in emphasizing the qualities and “revolutionary“ properties which the device has. Do I agree with such approach … NO.

For a full specifications of the new Macbook Neo you can visit the Apple website: Here.

Let’s break it down a bit:

  • CPU it is using an outdated Phone CPU , the A18 PRO Chip from several years back. Mark that word…outdated as it can be applied on other features offered by one of the most profitable companies in the world

  • Storage: 256GB or 512GB(with touch ID). Now I don’t know about you but my phone has more storage than the base version of the MacBook Neo. I habe SSD lying around from old computers with the same capacity which I don’t use exactly for that reason. Outdated Hardware…

  • RAM: 8GB RAM. Yes ladies and gentlemen, in year 2026 we get a "new” device which is limited to 8 GB RAM maximum. My Razer Blade Stealth from 2016 laptop which died on me, had 16GB. That is a 10 years old laptop with more RAM than the latest and cheapest from Apple.

The list goes on for the screen, camera, speakers and so on. One thing that can be praised is the aluminium body, but as the saying goes “a polished t..d it’s still a t..d“. I believe it is time to take a stand and realize all together that the beauty should come from the inside also for tech products. Why does it matter that the chassis is aluminium, when from the get go you have a slow machine, which cannot multitask and is outdated in every possible way. Did I mention that the price for the Macbook Air went 100 dollars up…?

So what do you get when you buy the “new“ MacBook Neo? I would argue that you buy regret … of not getting something else or upgrading it to the Macbook Air, which silently increased in price.

So please don’t encourage such practices and don’t buy bad products only because they have an Apple Logo on them. As I see it, such products should not see the light of day. Companies should respect their customers and provide them with good products from the inside out not the other way around. The polished aluminium body will do nothing for you if you can open only 1-2 applications at the time or the systems feels slow from day 1.

If you still decide the buy it, let me know how will that work for you. Not on the first day, when touching it for the first time, but after 6 months of daily usage.

Or maybe take the most cost effective alternative and install on your old hardware — Linux. I know … that sounds very complicated but have a look at Zorin or Cachy OS. You might be surprised on how polished those distributions are…

Until next time, TFG
